About Biosecure Alpaca Shearing, Ltd.
John Gunther has been shearing
fiber animals for hand spinners and fiber artists since 1998.
He started shearing guard llamas and fiber bearing alpacas for his
sheep clients back in 2002, and decided to specialize his shearing
to accommodate the alpaca community.
In 2008, he sheared over
5000 alpacas and over 1000 llamas.
Having been raised in a fiber loving,
Shetland Sheep
raising family, his focus has been on getting the fleece off in
one piece with as few second cuts as possible, and having the
animals look good when they are finished.
About Shear
Relief
Brian Gnizak has been working with John since they were little boys.
Growing up on a working farmstead he was an easy accomplice when
John expanded his shearing crews. After working with John for
4 years, he launched Shear Relief last year and sheared over 1400
animals with a two man crew. This year Brian will run a four man
crew with the same standard practices as Biosecure Alpaca Shearing,
Ltd.
